The history of Gloves Online

The GO story

It was 1995, and our founder, Joe McGarry, was replying to customer e-mail requests looking for gloves they couldn't find locally.

These e-mail requests were a result of the Glove University that Joe created on his web site for his glove manufacturing business. The Glove University included glove facts and terms and information about glove styles and glove industry jargon. Recognizing that Joe might know where to buy a certain type of glove, they e-mailed him with their needs. Most of the time, these requests had nothing to do with what Joe's company made or sold.

At the same time, Joe was also unsuccessful in finding hard to find gloves online. He also discovered that there was no major online retailer that specialized in gloves.

So in 1996, Joe decided to establish an online glove store and Gloves-Online.com was born!

The original idea was to create a web site that offered the best selection of hard to find gloves based on the customer e-mail requests. The first gloves to be offered were white parade type gloves since these gloves were in high demand and were very difficult to locate.

Over the past decade, the Gloves-Online brand and our glove offerings have evolved into the largest full service on line glove depot in terms of glove brands, styles, colors, sizes, and needs. GO's growth over years is largely responsible for our high level of customer service. We pride ourselves on assisting customers with their glove needs and even sometimes suggest another glove source for gloves we do not presently stock.

Our goal is to position Gloves Online as the largest single source glove supplier in the world to retail consumers and industry. As Joe puts it, "We currently sell gloves from Rawhide to Cashmere and we have just begun. We want Gloves-Online to be known as a service company that happens to specialize in gloves."
